123. The Last Stand
RAW ✔️ White Dwarf 482, Underdogs (11/2022), p127
Do not confuse this Underdog scenario with the scenario simply titled "Last Stand" published in Necromunda: Rulebook (2018).
In this scenario, a desperate gang declares that they will take on all comers - to the death!
The Underdog
This [scenario] makes frequent reference to an 'Underdog'; an Underdog is defined as a gang whose Gang Rating is at least 400 credits fewer than its opponent's. Note that you cannot use Underdog gang tactics when playing one of these scenarios.
Battle Types
The Last Stand can be played as either a Sector Mechanicus or Ash Wastes battle.
Attacker and Defender
In this scenario, the Underdog is the defender; the other gang is the attacker.
Battlefield
This scenario uses the Battlefield Set-up guidelines, as described in the Battlefield Set-up & Scenarios section of the Necromunda Rulebook.
Crews
This scenario uses the standard rules for choosing a crew, as described in the Battlefield Set-up & Scenarios section of the Necromunda Rulebook. Both gangs use the Custom Selection method to determine their crew.
Deployment
The defender deploys their starting crew within 6" of the centre of the battlefield. The attacker then deploys their starting crew at least 18" from the centre of the battlefield.
To the Bitter End!
The defending gang has declared their intent to hold their ground, no matter the odds. They cannot bottle out for any reason; the only way out is either victory or death! In addition, if any defending fighter is taken Out of Action while within 6" of the centre of the battlefield and would go Into Recovery, they do not go Into Recovery and instead cannot perform any post-battle actions.
Ending the Battle
The battle ends when only one gang has models remaining on the battlefield.
Victory
If only one gang has models remaining on the battlefield, that gang is victorious. Otherwise the battle is a draw.
Rewards
Credits
The victorious gang adds D6x10 credits to their Stash. The losing gang adds D3x5 credits to their Stash.
Experience
Each fighter who took part in the battle earns 1 XP.
Each defending fighter who is either taken Out of Action or Wrecked in the first three rounds gains an additional D3 XP, or D6 XP if taken Out of Action or Wrecked in round 4 or later. If a fighter is killed, they still gain this XP, though it will be of scant comfort to them (unless they are 'lucky' enough to receive a resurrection package...).
Reputation
The victorious gang gains 1 Reputation. If the defender wins, they gain an additional D3 Reputation.
