120. Market Mayhem
RAW ✔️ The Aranthian Succession – Cinderak Burning, p100
Do not confuse this scenario with the scenario also titled "Market Mayhem" from Book of the Outcast.
"Burn it all down!"
- Gorshiv, Shiv's Crushers, House Goliath
In this scenario, a gang makes a last stand in the middle of a burning market.
Attacker and Defender
In this scenario, one gang is the attacker and the other is the defender. If this scenario is being played as part of a campaign then the gang that issued the challenge is the attacker, otherwise roll off with the winner deciding whether they will attack or defend.
Battle Type
This scenario is an Ash Wastes battle; vehicles and Wargear that grant the Mounted condition can be included in both gangs' starting crew.
Battlefield
Set up the battlefield as described in the Battlefield Setup & Scenarios section of the Necromunda Rulebook. The area within 9" of the centre of the battlefield should be set up as a market.
Crews
This scenario uses the standard rules for choosing a crew, as described in the Battlefield Set-up & Scenarios section of the Necromunda Rulebook. Both gangs use the Custom Selection (7) method to determine their crews.
Deployment
The defender deploys their starting crew first within the market. The attacker then deploys their starting crew within 3" of any battlefield edge.
Gang Tactics
Each player may choose two gang tactics from those available to their gang. If, during the pre-battle sequence, the total credits value of fighters in one player's starting crew is less than their opponent's, they may randomly determine one additional gang tactic for each full 100 credits of difference.
Ending the Battle
The battle ends when either only one gang has fighters remaining on the battlefield or at the end of the fifth round.
Victory
The gang with the most Victory points is the victor. If both gangs have the same number of Victory points then the result is a draw.
Rewards
Credits
The victorious gang adds 2D6x10 credits to their Stash. The losing gang adds D6x5 credits to their Stash.
If the battle ends in a draw then both gangs add D6x10 credits to their Stash.
Experience
Each model who took part in the battle earns 1 XP.
If a model takes a Champion or Leader Out of Action, they earn an additional 1 XP.
Reputation
The victorious gang gains D3 Reputation. If either gang bottled out, they lose 1 Reputation.
Home Turf Advantage
The defender has the Home Turf Advantage.
Burning Market
The entire market has been set ablaze. If a model ends its activation within 1" of a burning structure the controlling player rolls a D6, on a 4+ they are set on fire and become subject to the Blaze condition. In addition, the Visibility (6") rule is in effect due to the billowing smoke coming from the market.
Last Stand
At the start of each End phase, if the only attacking models within the market are Seriously Injured fighters or Wrecked vehicles, the defender gains 1 Victory point. Otherwise, the attacker gains 1 Victory point.
Fleeing the Battlefield
If either gang voluntarily bottles out and subsequently flees the battlefield, their opponent automatically wins the scenario.
Athera's Last Stand
If players wish, they may use this scenario to represent Athera's desperate defence of the centre of Cinderak City before Lady Credo arrived to drive Gorshiv and the Goliaths off. In order to do this, make the following changes:
- The defender uses an Escher gang including Athera and Stix.
- The attacker uses a Goliath gang including Gorshiv Hammerfist.
