103. Desperate Raid

RAW ✔️ Source: White Dwarf 476, Underdogs (05/2022)

note

The Underdog

This [scenario] makes frequent reference to an Underdog; an Underdog is defined as a gang whose Gang Rating is at least 400 credits fewer than its opponent's.

One gang has broken into another gang's stores and grabbed anything they find of value. Now they just need to escape with the loot!

Battlefield

This scenario uses the Battlefield Set-up guidelines, as described in the Battlefield Set-up & Scenarios section of the Necromunda Rulebook.

Attacker and Defender

In this scenario, the Underdog is the attacker and the other gang is the defender.

Crews

This scenario uses the standard rules for choosing a crew, as described in the Battlefield Set-up & Scenarios section of the Necromunda Rulebook. Both players use the Custom Selection method to choose their crew.

Deployment

The attacker deploys their starting crew within 6" of the centre of the battlefield. The defender then deploys their starting crew anywhere on the battlefield at least 12" away from any of the attacker's fighters.

Break for Home

The attacker automatically wins the roll for Priority for the first turn.

Ill-gotten Gains

The attacker has managed to sneak into the heart of the defender's territory and seize a large cache of goods that can be sold for a tidy profit. Each fighter in the attacking gang has one Loot casket placed in base contact with them.

If an attacking fighter is within 1" of the battlefield edge during the End phase of a turn, they are removed from the battlefield along with any Loot caskets they are in base contact with.

Ending the Battle

The battle ends when only one gang has fighters remaining on the battlefield. If only the attacker has models remaining on the battlefield, they are all considered to have escaped with one Loot casket each.

Victory

The attacker wins if at least four Loot caskets are taken off the battlefield. Otherwise, the defender wins.

Rewards

Credits

The attacker adds D6x10 credits to their Stash for each Loot casket they carry off the battlefield.

Experience

Each fighter who took part in the battle earns 1 XP.

Each fighter that makes it off the table with a Loot casket earns an additional 1 XP.

If the defending gang wins, their Leader earns an additional D3 XP.

Reputation

If the attacker is victorious, they gain 1 Reputation. If the defender is victorious, they gain D3 Reputation. If either gang bottled out, they lose 1 Reputation.
