RAW ✔️ The Aranthian Succession – Ruins of Jardlan, p82
"I am Lady Haera Astaria Vorterra Helmawr, the Lord Helmawr, ruler of this planet and your liege! Now who in the Emperor's name are you?"
- Lady Haera Helmawr, 13th Daughter of Lord Helmawr
In this scenario, a gang that has been separated by a numerically superior force attempts to meet up and escape.
Attacker and Defender
In this scenario, one gang is the attacker and the other is the defender. If this scenario is being played as part of a campaign, then the gang that issued the challenge is the attacker; otherwise, roll off with the winner deciding whether they will attack or defend.
Battle Type
This scenario is an Underhive battle; vehicles and Wargear that grant the Mounted condition cannot be included in either gang's starting crew.
Battlefield
This scenario uses the standard rules for setting up a battlefield, as described in the Battlefield Set-up & Scenarios section of the Necromunda Core Rulebook.
Crews
This scenario uses the standard rules for choosing a crew, as described in the Battlefield Set-up & Scenarios section of the Necromunda: Core Rulebook.
Both gangs use the Custom Selection (6) method to determine their crew. The rest of the attacker's Fighter cards are shuffled together to form the Reinforcements decks.
Deployment
The defender selects one battlefield edge as the Entry Edge, the opposite battlefield edge is the Exit Edge. They then randomly select two of their fighters and deploy them within 3" of the Exit Edge. They deploy the rest of their starting crew within 3" of the Entry Edge. The attacker then deploys their starting crew anywhere on the battlefield at least 9" away from enemy fighters.
Gang Tactics
This scenario uses the standard rules for gang tactics as described in the Battlefield Set-up & Scenarios section of the Necromunda Core Rulebook.
Ending the Battle
If either gang has no fighters left on the battlefield at the end of any round, the battle ends immediately.
Victory
If at least four of the defender's fighters Withdrew from the battle (see Escape Through the Underway opposite) they are victorious. Otherwise, the attacker is victorious.
Rewards
Credits
The victorious gang adds 2D6x10 credits to their Stash.
The losing gang adds D6x10 credits to their Stash.
Experience
Any fighter that successfully Withdraws earns an additional 1 XP.
Reputation
The victorious gang gains D3 Reputation.
Escape Through the Underway
At the start of each End phase any defending fighters within 1" of the Exit Edge may Withdraw. Remove the fighter from the battlefield, they are considered to have been taken Out of Action for the purposes of Bottle checks.
Reinforcements
At the start of each End phase, the attacker rolls a D3 and receives that many Reinforcements. These may not be deployed along either the Exit Edge or the Entry Edge.
A CHANCE ENCOUNTER
If players wish, they may use this scenario to represent the meeting of Lady Haera with Orrin Grimjarl within the Necromagnium Underway. In order to do so, make the following changes:
- The attacking gang should be an Ash Waste Nomads gang led by Asun'ghar, the Lady of Ash.
- The defenders deployed on the Exit Edge should be Orrin and Urson Grimjarl with an Ironhead Squat Prospectors gang.
- The defenders deployed on the Entrance Edge should be Lady Haera Helmawr and a Palanite Enforcers gang.
