Secundan Incursion Gangs
RAW ✔️ The Book of Desolation, p43
Why Play A Secundan Incursion Gang?
Many parties venture into the depths of Hive Secundus in search of riches and archeotech. Those that wish to survive would be wise to join up with a Spyre Hunter of House Helmawr; the gang gains a powerful protector able to kill the Malstrains that infest the Underhells, while the Spyrer gains bait to lure out and distract the xenos so they can be slain.
This symbiotic relationship has proven beneficial to both parties since the fall of Hive Secundus and it is an exceptionally brave (and foolish) gang which ventures into those dread depths without the protection – dubious though it may be – of a Spyre Hunter.
A Secundan Incursion gang combines the strength of a Spyre Hunter with the flexibility of another gang. By replacing the gang's Leader with a Spyrer, the gang sacrifices the customisability of their Leader in order to bring a powerful fighter that is capable of turning battles on their own.
Gang Composition
A Secundan Incursion gang is created using the standard rules for gang creation (see the Necromunda Core Rulebook) with the following exceptions:
- The base gang for a Secundan Incursion gang can
be any of the six House gangs (Cawdor, Delaque,
Escher, Goliath, Orlock or Van Saar), Ironhead Squat
Prospectors, Palatine Enforcers or Venators.
- A Secudan Incursion gang has access to all of the fighters, weapons, Wargear and options of their base gang, and is treated as the base gang in addition to being a Secundan Incursion gang.
- Instead of a Leader from their gang list, a Secundan Incursion gang uses either an Orrus Spyre Hunter, Yeld Spyre Hunter, Malcadon Spyre Hunter or Jakara Spyre Hunter. This fighter changes their fighter type to Leader and gains the A Leader Apart and Secundan Incursion Gang Leader special rules.
- Additional or replacement Spyrers cannot be hired.
A Leader Apart: A Secundan Incursion gang must take a fighter with this special rule as their Leader. This fighter does not benefit from the Gang Hierarchy (X) rule and can never be included in Group Activations.
Secundan Incursion Gang Leader: A fighter with this special rule may not retire during Campaign play. For a gang leader, the only way out is death. Should this fighter die during the course of a campaign, or otherwise be removed from the gang, then when a new fighter is promoted to become the new Leader (see Death of a Leader in the Necromunda Core Rulebook) they change their fighter type to the Leader of the base gang, they do not become a Spyrer.
